Freedom
Every game, every event has rules. Even non-rule people lean toward joint expectations with agreed upon guidelines. God placed rules or laws within every reality of life. Gravity is a major one that comes to mind. Another is our very breath - how our bodies automatically inhale and exhale. The rule creates a norm that allows an understanding when things are functioning correctly. As much as there are laws and rules, humanity has a bent, a leaning toward disobedience and desire to rewrite rules we don’t like or agree with. It is not to say that some legally binding laws don’t need to be reexamined or at least understood with a historical context to their intent. But basically, if we don’t like it – it is deemed bad. And bad is seen as a rule that infringes on our freedom. So, a question that comes to mind, “Can you actually have laws and freedom at the same time?” Can Jesus, who promises you freedom also be the same Savior who confirms the rules that God has placed in the past? Freedom, what does it mean to be free?
